This season I'm sharing my living space with someone who is unaware of my all time favorite hobby mainly out of not wanting product to go missing (it's an out door guerilla set up) and have a shed where I was planning on drying in due to lack of use. Now I live in the midwest region of the states and around october it's starting to get rather chilly out here and I know around 45 degrees fahrenheit is when plants begin to die from the cold. So my question is do low temps affect the potency of a plant if it's already been cut? And if so do you have any suggestions for what I can do? If worst comes to worst I do have one or two friends that I do trust enough to leave this at their place but I know they would ask for a unfair cut, which I would prefer to avoid.

In short, no, low temps will not affect a plant that's been harvested.
If anything, the cold will preserve the cannabinoids and make them
break down more slowly.
As long as it's not so cold and damp that the plants cannot dry properly, things will be fine. Assuming the plants are pretty much dry when they're left in the shed (or that you can keep an eye on them for the first week of drying) there should be no problem. |
