does the seed bank have a mom alive for each variety sold?    also, does sensi keep a collection of older seeds?  and if u ripped open a 10 or 20 yr old pack, would the plant resemble the strain sold today?   old stinky moms rock!  well, in our world anyway.

Many varieties share a parent or have more than one ancestor in common.

There are many individual parent plants (male and female) which have been kept alive for decades through cloning, allowing exactly the same genotypes to be combined, producing the same hybrid seeds every time.

A smaller proportion of strains would have one or more solidly true-breeding parents, which allows other individuals from the same line to be used as parents. Even in these cases, it's more common for the same specific individual to be used as a parent every time.

There have been a few tweaks and improvements to certain strains over the years, but any significant change in parentage would produce a new hybrid, which would be sold under a new name (new strains are always in great demand, after all).

So, yes, if you had a 10-20 year-old pack of viable seeds, they would produce the same plants as seeds of that strain bought today.
