    Posted: 12 November 2012 at 17:27
hello guys ive been gifted some old 80s morrocon hash plant seeds
out of 10 i only got 2 seeds possibly 3 to germinate.
i soaked them for 48 hours and paper towel for 3 days
2 cracked and 1 has spilt a little, so i sowed all 3
into moist compost. im hoping the 3rd will pop and grow.
all i know about these seeds are they are/were in the day
landrace indica morrocon hash plant seeds not sure who
the breeder was these seeds have been passed around alot
over the years. im informed they are a tasty hashy smoke
and good yielders too. i wonder how they will compare
to todays hybrids or so called land race stuff? time will
tell i suppose, im hoping for somthing bulky and a true breeder
to make some crosses. i will keep you informed on the progress
its quite exciting as i dont know what to expect, the guy that
grew some originaly assures me they make nice plants from what he remembers,he did them outdoors though? so here we go time will tell

If you get even a couple going you'll be doing well. I'll be interested to see the progress.

The Hash Plant from Sensi is a completely different beast to a Moroccan hash-plant. Afghan hash-plants are usually stocky, fat-budding Indicas, while the Maroc hash-plants (going by photos) don't look like standard Indicas.

A Maroc strain from the 1980s is likely to be a fairly short, minimally branching plant that produces most of its bud at the top of the main stem.

Hashish-making in Morocco (at least on any sort of commercial scale) seems to be a recent phenomenon. Moroccan smokers used kif (as in plant matter, not the US misnomer) in their pipes. It was apparently hippies following the hash trail through the Middle East, Central Asia and India who brought the idea back to Morocco in the late 1960s or early 70s.

The upshot of this is that a Moroccan hash-plant from the 1980s is likely to have interesting characteristics, but I'd be surprised if it was a massive yielder or exceptional resin producer. Afghan and Indian strains have been used for making hash for centuries, whereas Moroccan plants were turned to that use quite recently.

In fact, in recent times, modern hybrids have become more popular with Moroccan farmers, due to their higher resin content.

Bear in mind that the above may not be gospel, and I have no personal experience of genuine Moroccan plants.

I'm pretty sure that he Moroccan hash industry is relatively recent.

please keep us posted!

Nice! They look super healthy, considering the age of the seeds.

Also, the plants in the Moroccan weed field were pretty much what I was picturing, though those ones look much better cared for than many I've seen.

I'd be really interested if the budded plant has any of that unique Moroccan/pine-tar/Rif valley aroma, or if that's more a product of growing in the Rif valley!

chances are G' i can provide the plants with an even better environment
than the native land as ive read its all rocks and very little food in those valley fields, who knows the next couple of weeks should be interesting.
